Patrick St. Clair was born in Houston, Texas. He comes from a creative family that fostered an interest in art and music. At the suggestion on an art professor while pursuing his B.A. in History he decided to take more art classes. Later he moved to San Francisco to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, where received his MFA in Painting. Starting out as a figurative painter, he moved to painting spaces and interiors as they offered a more open-ended experience. In his latest work he depicts modernist interior spaces that are furnished with objects that reveal some of the character the absent occupants. Color and light are an important part of his work, acting as the bridge between the outside and interior world. He lives and works in San Francisco.
